Rarely can I find something good enough to put into my collection, I have become fairly picky as I have over 100 hirschf?ngers, I tend to want to stick to presented or damascus pieces, this one with the beautiful blade and stunning fittings fits well.

Thanks Dave I believe the translation of the presentation is
Unserem lieben Freunde und Sch?tzenk?nig August Hermes gewidmet von seinem Adjutanten Rudolf Schreier und Anton Raffu Solingen 27.3.1927 Our dear friend and marksman August Hermes dedicated by his adjutant Rudolf Schreier and Anton Raffu Solingen 27.3.1927
I believe the term Adjutanten is a position within the shooting club who I think acts for the shooting king, its nice that this piece showing all its style was for somebody in Solingen, no better place to have the piece made, I'm sure in 1927 this piece would not have come cheap, the fittings alone shows some of the best workmanship I have ever seen on this type of weapon, I've also never seen a double dogs head crossguard on a WKC before so somebody must have ordered this special. What is also extremely unusual is the military motifs on the reverse of the blade, usually you would see the standard hunting/forest etch.

That is a super addition to your collection, Gary.
Always looking for Eickhorns and etched bayonets.

Gary,
What a beautiful hirschfanger. The blade is still frosted, that knobby stag is great and it's dated and named. Really a piece with it all, congrats!
