was searching for something in the back pages of the swords forum and came upon this. Seems the 'Fat One' was offered the more fancy of/extravagant of blades!
Looks like it was one hell of a sword! Wondering if anyone had seen it or heard anything about it..

right now Dave its 50/50,,I'm trying believe me!.........

I remember the book was a catalog of a jewelers work. Had a shot of the item like this. Then in the back had some facts about it,,good description,,materials used, when presented etc. IF I have anything more on it I'll put it up here..

I believe it was presented to him in Berlin in 1933! Made by one of the 3rd reichs best of jewelers... Yeah a crazy looking thing. . Sure to be meant as a wall hanger...

Militarynut, thank you for your kind words. I think Gaspare hit the nail. Such "edged weapons" where not looked at as weapon but as a most valuable wall decoration. At eg. Dresden you can find a lot of eg 16th (!!!) century degens, swords and so, embelished with rubies, diamonds, emerads and much more (see pics). For us collectors of edged weapons they do look kind of crazy and are sometimes hardly recognizable as edged weapon but they are of unbelievable highest workmanship and value!
So the same with Goering s sword shown in the first post (sorry I do not know any more facts about this certain sword) although in a more art deco style and Goering as a baroque connoiseur for sure was proud of such a sword.
Regards,

tried to make a better photo,, but not so good.. Anyway,,I believe the caption has the swords measurements and says Goring 'Owns' the sword.. More than likely blown to smithereens or in some Vets old , dark basement wrapped up in a old tent or in a duffel bag!
