This is a photo of my great grandfather, from around 1890 (I'm guessing) + or - 10 years or so. From these bad cell phone pictures, can anyone take a stab at identifying the model of sword he is holding ? I'd love to find one like it , but don't know what to look for. That side of the family lived in Wuppertal ( not far from Solingen ) for hundreds of years. (some still do) Thanks in advance.......Manfred

Manfred, From what I can see it looks like it's probably a Preussischer Kurassier-Extasable. Which is the off duty private purchase version of one of the two patterns of swords that the Prussian Currassiers carried on duty, with this one being the French style/pattern.
