Hello all,
A friend of mine picked up a Luftwaffe gravity knife but the spring is broken. Does anyone know of someone who knows how to repair these items or would he be just as well off bringing it to anyone who does knife repairs. Also any idea of what a fix like this would cost, rough cost.
thanks for any help or info

Hi Bill ,

the repair of a lateral spring ( a classic failure) is a hard duty . First of all , is it a first model or a take-down knife ?

For my gravity-knives collection I bought several spares , including broken knives, in order to face this problem but in spite of
several trials I conclude the result was not satisfactory. It is necessary to have a high experience & knowledge in cuttlery and
the right material .
On *You Tube* you can find a topic on the subject but practice is an other thing !

Hello Seppi & Militarynut,
Sorry for the belated reply to you both. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my query. Seppi, I don't know whether it is a first model or what actually. I myself know nothing about these knives so I will ask him when I see him. I will let him know that there is something regarding them on "You Tube" also. Militarynut, I thank you for your reply and will tell my friend to make sure that if he does find someone who says they can fix it, that they really do know how to fix it...and yes I agree that nowadays it is hard to find someone who is a craftsman no matter what area it may be in. Again, I appreciate both of your replies and information. Thanks again.

The guy on youtube did a super job, said it cost about $300.00
Kind of pricy to fix a $700 knife, but it was a sweet job.
