Hi friends,

Do you have any idea what this ring is? Is it fake or genuine?

I agree with Mike. <Gott mit uns> means <God with us>, hardly a Nazi sentiment! This one is a dud, I reckon.
Cheers,
Stephen

Actually Gott mit uns although an old German military slogan was very much part of the Wehrmachts identity. It was omnipresent on everything from patriotic army posters to belt buckles. The potential irony of it has no doubt fascinated historians and collectors alike for years.

Although I agree with you, but the phrase "Gott mit uns"was one Wehrmacht belt buckles and also in Gestapo logo, as far as I know.

Thanks for educating me. I dont know much about anything other than rings and I never saw any mention of God on a TR ring before. Ironic indeed, given the Nazi rejection of religion.

I am not sure I have seen it in a TR ring either, imperial definitely. I think largely nazi ideology was more politically oriented, but the SS were the ones that really began the cultural revolution in terms of a neo pagan amalgam of (quite obviously) non Christian beliefs. I can imagine the pretty hardline Roman Catholics of southern Germany truly despised the ss religious ideologies.

Seems you are right Gaspare, everything resembles this buckle!
