Greetings! I have been out of the hobby for 10 years. My cousin pulled this dagger out of his fathers closet. It looks ok to me except for the hanger ( never saw this) and the blade looks to be cleaned. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Need better pics I know. working on it.

Pictures are still really bad for ID
Late RZM maker, un identified.
Hanger is original TYPE, but would need better photos, keeper strap is reversed, buckle should be on outside.
Grip condition and fit seem to look good, but better pictures are needed here also.
Good luck,
Ed

Thanks ED. I cant get the photos to post clear, IDK. Once I compress to fit the limit, the quality goes to garbage.

I'm sure there are a few guys on here to help you with pictures.
I'm a computer dummy, or I would offer help.

I got the dagger home from my cousin. I gave him 500$ for it. It most definitly has been taken apart, there are buggered screws and the tang nut has marks. The blade to lower cross guard has a poor fit also. The hanger seems bogus too, the buckle strap is way short, looks like it broke and was reshapped, the lower band looks new. IDK might be pieced together dagger.

Well, you already know all those things are bad. You will need better pictures to get the SS guys to give you info.
Turn the buckle strap around, and call it good. It is from your family, rare to be the first owner of a bringback.

Yes LOL, except who knows what my cousin did to it as a kid. The few people I have come across see m split on all the parts being original? IDK.

The clip on the hanger is certainly bad.

Whats the consensus on the DRGM clips? I know some period daggers have a DRGM clip and some are post war. How do you determine the period clips?

The better photos sure make the deal a lot more interesting. The dagger looks a lot nicer. The hanger is no big deal.
You can get a standard SS hanger for under $200, and you have a SS dagger for $700 that a member of your family brought back from the war.. I would have done that in a heart beat.
Sure beats spending thousands on one.
