Wester & Company of Solingen sold swords to Germany, the US, the Swiss, and others. Production ended prior to 1900.

Nice condition for an item of that vintage. Also, for an item of that vintage with an apparently wooden part of the grip is unusual.
Based on that and the fact that the grip portion of any old sword is usually 'fragile' I'd suggest that the wooden (?) part it is a quality fitted replacement.
