Have to opportunity to buy this sword. I know almost nothing about German swords. I know it is a Doves Head type, but I have been unable to find any other images that are close to this type. The top of the handle has what looks like a screw threads coming out, does something attach here? The handle area is loose. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

That sword has been taken apart and not reassembled correctly. The thing on the top of the grip is the tang or end of the blade. It was not screwed down but permanently attached with a hammer and it was not supposed to be taken apart. You can see the grip and guard are crooked.
I would pass on this as it unlikely you can easily fix it. This is not a rare sword .
Read a book or two and look through various forums to educate yourself.

What's the guy asking for it? If the price is really right, maybe worth buying??

The sword is missing its grip wire and has a chip out of it. It looks like someone was going to try and replace it.
