hi ron not enough evidence with this boot knife to be obergruppenfuhrer bittich its possible with a little more dna this is probly a puma boot knife with three pins in the bakerlite handle keep after it some dna might show up hope this helps you god bless andy militarynut

I think after further research, this knife can not be attributed to Bittrich. I do believe the story of it and note being surrendered by him to Lt Scheider to be fabricated.

hi ron yes i agree to bad this fact cant be researched further but with what you have to go on isnt enough for you to pull the trigger to add to your beautifull bittrich ss honor ring but im sure if you go further some outher dna will show up this great hobby of owning such great history as per don boyle said we all are the keepers of this great german history my saying its not over till the fat lady sings best of luck collection god bless andy militarynut
