Hello Alexg, first let me tell you that I do understand that you want as much information as possible but it would be an act of politeness to tell us that the same pic/question has been put in at least another forum. Concerning the bayonet and the stamping. I do have several of these walkout postal bayonets in my files (and I do own a grouping with proper portepee, belt and documents) and the fonts seem to differ slightly but I do not have such more ornate font in my files. The fonts in my files seem to be more plain. Important: What is the maker of your bayonet? Regards,

Hello! I have couple of photos from the dealer. Maker is Paul Weyersberg.

Hello alexg, this mark is one of the very few legit postal bajonet makers and to my best knowledge this mark does not occur on socalled normal walk out bayonets (if I am wrong please one of the bayonet experts may correct me). So I would tend to believe that this is an original DRP stamping- BUT the bayonet is -imho- in very bad condition. These bayonets do come by from time to time (I think to remember one currently at a dealer, if you are interested please send me a pm) and I personally would wait for a better one. If eventually a resale is necessary, which can happen to all of us collectors, condition is the most worthwhile aspect! Regards,

The font on the topic starter is different than the typically seen Reichspost dress bayonets, as stated by Wotan. I have owned a number of them & have pictures of many (by both Weyersberg & Alcoso) & cannot seem to find any examples of the more elaborate lettering. I do know I've seen them though. As to originality, it's anyone's guess but I think it's probably fine.

Thank you gents!
I already understand from the answers, this is an original postal bayonet, but there is no other example still? All circumstances and signs indicate that originality?
Unfortunately my wallet not so too wide. The seller offering me about 105 USD. I think is is a fair price for a rare dress b, if not in a very good condition. I think it would be nicer than in the pictures.

Hello alexg, I could find another postal bayonet by the same maker and with a number close to the one shown here and it has EXACTLY the same font as the one shown by you so for me it is without any further doubt an original one. I do understand your thoughts concerning your wallet. If you are happy with the bayonet you are free to buy it. As said, in case of reselling it (also a point of view concerning your wallet) you will have a hard time. In earlier days I also did buy items in not so good condition but finally I never became really happy with them. These are only MY personal thoughts, regards,
