Can anyone help translate writing on the tang. No writing on the other side or no other marks. Blade is sharp but has damage and parts missing. What should I offer for this. The scabbard has a name along with Pusan which is in Korea of course, police station. Thank you for any help.Best!

I would say definitely Japanese. Busan is probably the closest city to the Japanese main island, and they were occupied by the Japanese during ww2.

hi mikee
yes definitly japanese blade in resting case and very old koto signed blade im sorry i cant read it for you but on wehrmacht awards they can help in my honest opinion from what i can see the blade is probly from year 1450-1550 might be 1600s i think i can see that the point of the tip of the boshi is knocked off if thats all the damage that can be fixed by a polisher it also appears to be a hand made blade not arsenial made hope this helps you god bless andy militarynut

hi mikee
thats a hard call to put a price on what to pay for this japanese sword not knowing the extink of damage to the blade it all depends on the smith who made it if he is a good smith high in rank and popular then its worth of a 5,000 dollar polish best you check with the japanese sword collectors on wehrmacht awards they are good at this wish i could help further but i cant god bless merry christmas to you n family andy militarynut

They were a great help. The translation is Kawachi Daijo Fujiwara Masahiro a well known and important sword smith, early 1600's. That is if it all checks out and it's not a fake. I have a lot to learn and do. Best!

hi mikee
my pleasure to help when ever i can you never know what knowledge some one has and as all ways its my pleasure to help listen one thing you can do is measure your blade this is how to do it take the handle off and slide the little brass collor down the blad or off the blade dont matter then you will find a notch in the steel blade measure from the tip of the sword to the notch this will give you the right measurment lenth wise if its 23inches to 26inches its a wakisashi blade if longer its probly a katana also what is the damage you see please let me know god bless andy militarynut
