Does anyone have this pattern glass WW ring? either in metal or glass? I've never seen this in a advert, trade or guild book.

For me this is a newly seen pattern ring.. These are actually pretty easy to make.. A few years ago Odal and I came upon a box of period glass inserts for ring cartouches. They had a good provenance so we bought them all. There were about 50 and were not cheap.. So we split the lot and kept a couple for our self to study and sold the rest. The quality and detail were really nice as like in the rings..

This has neither. Quality is poor. Detail is poor.. They are starting to appear on the German auctions and bet we will start to see a bit more around.

Appears new as the day it was made,,which wasn't so long ago.. wink

Me too. I have the better-known WW pattern with the dark red glass insert mounted on a brass ring. We have all seen these.
Never seen this pattern before. Looks like junk to me. Thanks for posting.

hi gaspare
members yes this west wall ring with what appears to be glass top dated 1940 n west wall on the front what i did notice about this ring has a few issues that might be nothing but then again it might be just me what i noticed was the west wall and the date is not raised lettering where most of the glass west wall rings are raised lettering i have a book on just west wall rings written by a german collector of these rings and in his book most of the glass rings in his collection has raised lettering very few is not raised most of the mountings are made of steel silver coated including the one gaspare shows but the ring that is shown here is poor workmanship thats for sure hope all agree god bless andy militarynut

Yes Andy many/most did have it raised.. and the poor workmanship just screams out to the experienced ring collector.... And, like the others its just not been seen by anyone!
Also most WW rings are of the 2 date design [39/40] ..

* The WW ring booklet is a free download. The author is a valued member here,, 'Gerd' I think he uses here..

The link:

http://gerdhagedorn.de/58.html

Many of the rings are from mine and Odals collection and also some of the info.... Some other rings are from right here from the good ole GDC forum!! In my project I go heavily into the WW ring breaking them down into the original,,the spiral wound,,the designed cartouche,,and West Front..

Our WestWall topic is a good one showing many patterns,,that and his booklet and you have a lot of info on the WW ring.. Check out that link,,you will enjoy it....., G.

thats a shame. Maybe we would have read something as to his opinion of the ring..
* Please guys.. Have one membership. IF you have more than one you can be warned or banned. - I value everyone's opinions / posts. Play it straight guys,,if you have something to say its the only way we can hear it!
I try to be fair to everyone. Some of you I know personally,,,many I have met over the years,,and some I've been emailing for years.. For the new guys,,you want to go 'off' on a member ,,do it by PM or email.. We are not interested in drama.. We are interested in 3rd reich jewelry and such.
We're from all over the world,,lets give everyone a chance, be polite and lets continue to see and learn about what we specialize in this hobby..., thanks.,Gaspare
