I don't recognize this name on any WW2 period carbines. Is this a post war maker?

Produced for the commercial market by the Plainfield Machine Company, Dunellen, NJ between 1960-1977.

I've had more than one seller try to convince me that their Plainfield or Universal carbine was "brought home from the war by daddy". They're fun rifles to play with, but all post war commercial rifles for sure.
