Hello,
Your tschako is a perfectly fine example of one as worn by an NCO of the civil Gendarmerie, or rural police. It is missing the brown leather chin strap. Everything else seems to be as it should.
These were specified in the uniform regulations of 1936, and were worn through the end of the war as the service headwear.

these are cool! And make a great display... In the 70s these and the green DAK pith helmets were everywhere...., Now,, gone,,rarely see either.. But they still cool and this one looks fine...,G.
