Hi Thanks for allowing me to join the forum.....long time ember on Luger forum....
saw these 2 blades at a LGS....owner doesnt know if they are real....and if so I dont know what to offer...
Thanks for any input help.

1st one is a mini navy with a damacus blade?...painted grip..flaking....on pommel where swastika would be looks like it was plugged during casting? after war?...love the blade although the grind on marker mark side isnt centered...

2nd looks like a hunter... forestry service?...this one isnt marked except for 04 on back of sheath....acorn broken off guard....to me seems like a repro...as brass fittings just dont have a quality about them....and they are slightly loose...ill fitting?....stag has a nice look to it though...

Thanks again for any input

Regarding the damast blade with Navy crossguard, I believe the Hubertus maker mark is considered postwar. The damast pattern also looks like the modern stuff we see.

Hello sfal, first let me welcome you to the forum!

The first dagger by HUBERTUS is a well known past war made private letter opener with artificial (etched) damast blade. When I remember right it has been often shown in selling ads by HUBERTUS in the 70ies in german weapon journals. Obviously the grip parts are cast postwar in bad quality or surplus not enhanced.

The second dagger seems to be an old private Hirschfanger with some issues as a broken guard. I hope Baz69 will jump in as he has the highest knowledge on hunting weapons.
Regards,

The hunting dagger is a strange one, obviously it has it's damages including the blade that has been cut down, I cannot understand the use of just the one acorn on the grip, the frog has been adapted to be used on this piece, the V notch is not original, I think its something that was put together during the Imperial period to use, it has no intrinsic value other than aa a curiosity.
