I bought this horn and another without the bulb. I've never seen one and can't find any online. Any help on authentication and value would be helpful. Pictures on link below.

Like the Naval daggers, you need to stop looking where your're looking if you want real items...?.

Texas,
Your saying this horn is not original? I can't think of one reason there would be fake horns. They aren't of any value. Just unique. I figured the daggers were just bad luck on the guy who inherited this stuff.

Vern,
From what I researched I had thought that's what it was. But why the eagle on it?

Djp20659...,,,, Why is there an eagle on it?? To get you to buy it!! It is a made up fantasy piece..

They counterfeit EVERYTHING 3rd reich,,, daggers, cloth, jewelry, every medal & badge ever made even from other countries. Fake/made up ribbon bars from real parts,,,even SS condoms and Heer toilet paper... Put that Swas and or Runes on things and it = $$$$$$$$$$$$....

Be Careful,,,ask before you buy [if you can].,,,read,,,buy reference,,everything you can get your hands on.
IF you get to go to one of the bigger shows like the SOS or MAX used ref. books are plentiful,,,and sometimes at GREAT prices!

Good info. I should have known. From now on I'm gonna be buying from Mr. Wittmann. Does anyone have any other preferences on good places to buy with a good reputation? Thanks for the help

Derrick,,,don't trust anyone! Forget reputations,,,you can get a bad piece from anyone.. [Wasn't he endorsing the nazi toilet paper at the SOS? It's been proven they BS.] Sure it probably helps to buy from those with good reps,,,but only because they offer a return policy!!

Try to specialize in one thing,,or a couple if you must.. Then learn all you can about it. Books, books books,,,the forums too.. Study authentic pieces not the fakes. Seek and handle as much as you can.. ...
Have you gone to a SOS or MAX yet? If not go. Even if your broke when you get there, go!.. Look at the authentic stuff. Study it right there! There are also many who'd love to talk to you about the pieces your interested in. You can learn a lot at the big shows just by keeping your eyes and ears open. "May I have a look at that in hand sir?" Many if not all will let you handle something or use your loop to have a look. IF your asking to inspect Hitlers visor cap,,,forget it!

Your horn,,chalk that up towards your tuition.. Look what you've learnt so far! Just not something to make a habit of though..

My best advice,,,Specialize,,,and reference material,,and patience...Happy Hunting buddy...,G.

Yea I agree. Never been to a show but would love to go. Where are they? I personally have only been into rad daggers. That's really the only thing I can tell a fake from a OG. Sometimes it's hard. But those are my favorites. I like the style. The SS stuff is nice it's just faked way to much and I don't know it well enough so I stay away from it.
I didn't know about the toliet paper thing. That's interesting for sure.

The MAX and SOS are US shows. The MAX is 2 months from now in a suburb of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. SOS is in Feb/March in Kentucky.

Both are enormous.

There is Also a large show in Kassel in Germany and probably some good ones in the UK too.

You can look at Meda Militaria on the web. JR is a great guy and always has very nice stuff.
The MAX is back east in Penn., and the SOS is in Louisville Ky. The SOS has about 2500 tables, the Max a little smaller but also a great show.
Enjoy

That's great to know. I'm in Virginia so I'm not far from either one. I'll definitely be looking in to it and attending. I am pretty new to the hobby but absolutely love the history. I appreciate the info grrr
