I've seen these in reference books and wondered who the heck wore them and why?
I've also seen embroidered and printed versions, always on a yellow background. Can anyone shed any light on these and also, what other variants are known to exist?

Does anyone know if these are 'early' as during the same period when the 'Hilfspolizei' armbands were worn? Also, has anyone ever seen a printed version on a white background, narrower in width than the yellow versions?
