Looks like a thin band with the classic 'Tank Treads'. A separate skull soldered on. The content number stamped it.. Not seeing anything wrong here I'd say you have an excellent condition example! This pattern is old. Made available give or take a couple years in 1920.
and,, these were available probably right to mid war period..
You got a nice ring there 'Lakesidetrader' !

just a quick request related to this ring....

well first,,any member with an example, or comment about the ring please make a post and share your comment and/or photos.

My question is: Does anyone have an old periodical from the late 'Teens' that shows this ring? The advertisements for such items is usually in the 2nd half of the magazine to the last few pages... I'm trying to see if this ring was available at the end of WW1.. The ad I posted was from 1920.. I'm looking for a 1915 to 1919 date would be fine!
Thanks and again,,,Paul,,thats a nice ring!!

Thanks Gaspare for sharing that ad. Yes would love to see more. So why does the illustrated lines go a different direction on my ring? Is that significant or just a manufacturer variation?

Paul,, it is just a line drawing, they weren't always accurate. .. Sometimes they even advertised rings [drawings] that weren't fully in to production yet!

That was a contribution someone sent me a while ago. No date on the page but he said the catalog was dated 1920. Has mainly regular jewelry and had a few examples of 'mens rings'.

We have other examples of these 'wide band skulls' on the forum. Worth searching around as there are some different patterns that are interesting. All have the same characteristics. Wide band, content mark, separate hollow skull that was affixed on by soldering, smooth well finished off inner band.

yes Andy,,you have had a few real nice ones the last past years!

IF members check the pinned Private Purchase Skull ring topic pinned at the top they will find more examples..

Odal even had a advert for what seemed to be a WW1 period like ring . The ad was blurry and we were waiting for a clear scan that never came!

Here's 2 of my favorites from my collection... And, one from our Odal...

I?ve quite a few of these. This one is my favorite for a number of reasons. It has a similar tread angle, paul.

thanks for your opinions on my two skull rings as i mentioned here the rope design skull ring is marked with faded 800 silver mark i also see member nvrmore gave his opinion as this skull rope design ring is not ww2 example i find this opinion hard to believe after collecting these third reich rings for over fifty years please tell me i missed something here if you can provide any outher information on as to when this rope design ring was made after the war it would be gratfully appreciated and then i can say to myself i missed something here and i am slipping here in my old age please prove me wrong this might be a good teaching to all of us thanks god bless militarynut

photo credit not really sure,,looks like Serge Bodrov collection :

- not sure which one your writing about but,,,the wide band skull with rope weave pattern is a early pattern. Most of these are between wars..

Here's another advert with 2 widebands..

you know seeing the 'Repaired' topic ,,that has a unorthodox looking skull... I'd say the ring that started this topic by Paul [LakesideTrader] is the perfect traditional
'Tank Tread ring'. The Skull, The Band = The TTR [tank tread ring]..

So,,wondering,,anyone else have a Unorthodox Skull on their TTR? OR even a different band,,not TT but smooth,,or hammered like mine..
Here are mine,,you've ll seen them before.

Please, anyone have one,,Different than standard skull, different than standard band,, ,, please post!
