Hello all,
Not really a ring collector here but picked up this Algiers 44 ring at a flea market, the price was right. I bought it thinking it was probably a repro. It looks to be in a little too good of shape but which made me think that but that's why I put it here so people that are in the know might be able to let me know. I think I usually see them with a date of 1941, is that correct? Thanks again for any help and info.

Hi bill
No thats a real ring, post operation torch and the North African campaign
But its not german
DAK rings bear the earlier date,
Usually 44 rings are allied for obvious reasons
It was made in the souk for an allied soldier, usually US, especially if you found it in a USA flea market
They are not uncommon
But they are cool and a collectible niche unto themselves
Some guys here like dak41 that is his whole focus really
So ya it is real man and a cool piece of USA history
Congrats
Mike

Hello Mike. thanks much for your reply, it is appreciated. It's nice to hear that it is original. I paid ten bucks for it so real or not it was a good deal. A plus it being real. And thanks for the more detailed info about the date & stuff. Again, many thanks
Bill
