Another nordic bracelet I purchased - interesting panels showing life of a warrior in battle with dragon (also a brooch with this motif), giving thanks for meat while cooking, and at the forge or grist mill making bread.

Hey Mike, it just got more interesting!

I was looking at these bracelets under a loop in strong natural light and noticed a hand / home-made inscription on the back of one link. This looks easy to see in the photo I took but I manipulated the pic so you can see it. It is not as easy to see with the naked eye!

After a bit of on-line searching in the census records for Bethlehem PA, I came up with a photo of the original owner - Kari Hanto - the name and address matches exactly! So much for this being the property of some German maiden though! Although, Kari did have blonde hair and blue eyes. Kari's parents were prob from Europe as the records seem to indicate. Need to do some more research.

And sometimes I have to ask myself - What the hell am I doing collecting bracelets anyhow?

Just learned her Dad, HALVOR was originally from NORWAY and was a civil engineer at Bethlehem Steel. Her Mom's name was GUDRUN and she was also from Norway. So, the family celebrated their heritage and Kari probably received the Norge bracelet as handed down from her mother.

The Nils Elvik NE inside the horseshoe is the older mark used before the single E I believe.

These bracelets were made over a wide span of time so some are definetley from 1940s but some were made in 1950s too.
