I hope the numbers were put on by the owner himself maybe in the field. I don't think he knew what to do with that roman numeral.

I absolutely agree. That piece is unique... you could identify it mixed among one million daggers.
Besides... the investigation job to find his first owner!
I was looking for one like this... first period... numbered... but one particular M36 captured all my attention... my first period one will have to wait for a while...
