Thats the dagger from your User-thumbnail. Seems to be a mint one with damascus honor blade. Please show also the other blade side.

Great pieces all! I recently got a Postal & an early 2nd model Spitzer RLB EM & was very impressed with the overall quality of the construction & parts. Although I never had an appreciation for these scarce daggers, that changed & I'm very happy.

Beautiful daggers . . . I too have always been drawn to the art deco design reflected in these daggers. Also a very interesting presentation dagger Paul. Is there a story behind it you would share? ~ Ian

The dagger blade is a etched pattern to look like damascus.. But I'm sure you knew that. Regards: James

Thanks James, yes I am aware its not a true Damascus. Tom Johnson, who has had the piece in hand and asked to feature it in his book, believes it is very rare ,if not unique, in that it has a dedication on both the reverse AND the obverse of the blade. Im still awaiting my first true Damast piece-oh well, I'm not TO unhappy with this one until then!!
Paul

@Damast. yes you are right it is an etched blade. It`s important to explain that difference for other collectors. The other damast-blade on 2nd RLB Leader I know is also an etched one. And indeed, as Paul says, it shows only the dedication at one side. The other side shows only the Witte trademark.. Curios, for me as native german I can`t read both Names, not the one from Weitze neither the Name on Paul`s blade.
