Dear collector fellows! At least in german forums there goes the rumour that (most???) navy de luxe scabbards can be ordered nowadays and are faked. Naturally today nearly all is faked. But let us examine. I do not want to start with the more exotic scabbards. Let us start with the well known WKC scabbards, mainly the "owl motive" and a very similar brother motive. Does any of you have the feeling or the proof that these two kind of de luxe scabbards are faked today? If yes, does have any of you concrete informations wherethese are faked and who does fake them. Also if yes, does any of you photographs of these suspect or for sure faked de luxe scabbards? Thank you in advance, any opinion is welcomed! Regards,
wotan, gd.c-b#105

Here are some pictures of a scabbard that was discussed recently on a german forum. I would appreciate some opinions.

Here is one of the few versions of a original deluxe WKC scabbard... Yes WKC had different patterns but that is not the issue here.. Yes, Tom W. has it for sale and it is a great example of one!! http://www.wwiidaggers.com/39192.htm Just look at it and your questions should be answered..

Although I did not intend to discuss a special dagger, it is nice that we have here one of the several WKC variants I want to discuss (naturally you also can discuss this certain dagger here too). As said there is the rumour that these scabbards (eg this one and the well known owl motive deluxe scabbard) are modern fakes(!). I do have my personal opinion and will write it her (with kind of proofs) but this later. @DAMAST, the dagger shown here is not the one of TTW. Regards,

Hello: Wotan On may 1st post I have a link that goes to Tom W. site.. Here is the link again below.. http://www.wwiidaggers.com/39192.htmThere you will see the dagger I posted about.. This dagger scabbard is a period original pre 1946 WKC deluxe version.. One of the few deluxe styles they made... this scabbard screams period made..

Just look at it and your questions should be answered.. My comparison, the thread starter does not have the quality of Witty's example. For me, it's a modern fake.
