Hi everyone,
I posted this one on a local forum and they were critical about the pommel and the scabbard. one had less detail and the other looked too new! As far as I can see it's a textbook late Eickhorn...

Hello Wim, can you please show the mm? Are the scabbard bands seperate ones or pressed out? What is the material of the scabbard (magnetic?)?
Generally the "to new looking" argument is as stupid as one can be. The one who says it never has seen or heard of unissued, in store found IIIR edged weapons...

The scabbard bands are separated pieces like it should be. Scabbard is not magnetic, only on the place where the throat goes into the scabbard it feels a bit magnetic. I think I also see the wooden liners when using a light torch.
Wotan: that's a stunning picture!!!

The scabbard bands are separated pieces Hello Wim, so you obviously have a late but not the latest varation of EICKHORN navies. The latest ones would have the same mmark but a steel scabbard (with brass finish) with pressed out scabbard bands and pot metal (again with brass finish) grip parts. I am not into the minute details of navy eagle varations (eg. late EICKHORNs sometimes do have WKC grip parts) but I can see nothing wrong with your dagger. Imho a nice conditioned, late period EICKHORN navy. BTW these are eg. three unissued SA by the same maker, tagged and bagged. These are really unissued, NOT somehow nice looking daggers with few waering traces and a tag and a bag nowadays added(!). So mint pieces are around, any "item is to new looking" argument is ... One word: stunning!!
Thanks for the positive comment about the dagger. Here in Belgium many collectors are wild from salty pieces, new like daggers give them the creeps and this results in sometimes stupid reactions...

From 25 years ago.
Sometimes you just get lucky when your hook is in the water.
All gone now, just kept one of each for myself.
Not one of them had a "tag".
