I was sent the photos of a 1st model dagger with blue panel etch. I personally am suspicious of 3rd Reich items with the PDL mark. But do not know.

Sorry, only three photos. will post in a minute.

Thank you

Lets see what the etch pro's say, but as you say this is a known maker mark used on post war made blades.. Very fresh looking.. Kevin.

Like Kevin i do not scrutinize or collect etched blades but PDL is certainly one of the maker marks you see on the extravagant fake etched blades like this one and would bet the farm this ones a sled as our friend Serge would say eek

Fairly certain this is an old fake, the eagle looks like a seagull with a hooknose.

As was mentioned, many of the older fakes show maker marks from smaller manufacturing firms. PDL is often seen, as is Clemen & Jung & Richard Plümacher.

As stated above, there are too many red flags for this to be original.

Not for my collection, that is for certain.

Thank you everyone. This is also my opinion but before I tell someone they got stuck, I like to hear from you guys.

I will give him the bad news.

I'm not a etch specialist, but that blue panel shade is way off. Plus, what others have mentioned, IMHO, This ones 'A Sled'. - Sorry.

No worries Serge, not my dagger. Also, the guy took it quite well. I suspect he was already questioning the dagger when he contacted me.

Again, thanks for all the replies.
