Hi One of our forum members was very helpful and give me an oportunity to buy strange polish dagger. It looks odd but in my opinion there is a chance to be real period item. The whole dagger is made of brass with rest of silver gilding .Part of crosguard looks to be replacement but without disasembling hard to say it.Anyway Im posting pics of dagger and pics to compare to standart dagger Borowski made and unknown maker dagger found in Lww under the floor.TB

Hi Ted, I'm glad the dagger arrived safely! The dagger looks much better on your photos than I saw from the seller. Interesting piece for sure! I am curious what your Polish collector friends will think about it. Best regards, Janos

A. Mann Daggers are very distinct in their construction. I have located photos of an original.
As I recall the grip should be ivory (not bone). Ted can correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, look at these photos and see if you have an original.

The universal problem with A Mann daggers is that they did not hold up well at all. I saw one where the blade was just a rusted tooth pick look to it and the grip was OK. Very difficult to find but I try not to buy daggers that I know I will have to upgrade.
