Hi All: Thought I'd share with you (and some lucky owner) another numbered full Röhm SS dagger that I have been successful in uncovering the original naughty nazi owner. I particularly like identifying those that have been published as unidentified giving them some provenance. This unground Röhm is reproduced on p. 36 in Robin Lumsden's Edged Weapons of Hitler's Germany. Enjoy! Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.comwww.HistoricGraphics.com

SS No. 21 779 was assigned to Alfred Schmäling. This portion of his Fragebogen from his "Race & Settlement File" confirms that he was qualified to receive it since he had joined the SS (after service in the SA) in August 1931. He was also listed in the SS-Dienstalterslistes. Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.comwww.HistoricGraphics.com

And I like to be able to put a face with the object. This is one of this naughty nazi's photos I uncovered. I contacted Robin about the location of this dagger and found that the photo for his book had been provided by Tom Johnson. So another ided SS full Röhm can be added to the list that was the topic of a previous discussion: http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...800069355#9800069355Enjoy! ..and another mystery as to why the dagger was not defaced, altered or destroyed.
In this man's official SS capacity, he has bought into the Nazi program 100%, so what circumstances would cause him to disobey orders? Loyalty to former SA comrades?
The key to the answer would be to look at the man's SA records and see whom he had ties to..
