I thought if you were going to label something as repro or junk that you had to supply a more substantive reason etc....I kinda remember this being a forum rule to prevent trashing and devaluing of a poster's item. I am not saying these are good or bad just remember this being stated on GDC.....seems to be desension here, is this style of gorget good or bad? cheers and regards, Ryan

No it is not! The 'SS-Streifendienst' is for sure not a fantasy-item and this one is original to!!!
The 'Funkschutz' gorget did existed as well!
(Used by 'Wireless police' accordingly the Gorget indentification guide on this forum)

So, before you say 'fantasy', also say why...
Thanks.

I agree the SS Streifendiensnt gorget is correct and authentic. I have seen several authentic ones in over 35 years of collecting and this one is right on the money. The SS emblem in particular is correct. There are close fakes and parts gorgets around, but they are usually not that hard to spot if you know what to look for. The Funkschulz gorget did exist and is documented in at least one period photo I have seen. I don't know about its authenticity. I'm not saying it's a reproduction, I just don't know. If I were still an active collector, I would be very much interested in both gorgets. Neither is a fantasy piece.

The first one shown is usually in the $6000 to $8500 price range. Minty ones like this one are at the higher end of the scale. To call them fake overall is a sign of little knowledge of them. I have owned one for about 15 years or more.

I can't comment on the originality of the pieces shown (although nothing jumps out at me as being bad), but these two designs did most certainly exist. I would love to have a Funkschutz in my own collection.

Photos, including period photos, of both gorgets, as well as descriptions, are depicted in "Gorgets of the Third Reich" by Deeter and Odegard. The ones depicted in this thread appear to be identical.

both are good but they do not fetch what they used to unless you are a German auction house with the exchange rate and fee add ons
