The Austrian authorities have announced that Hitler's famous birth home in Austria is to be appropriated from the elderly female owner who has refused to sell or renovate or alter the home's appearance. The Austrian government states that the building is to be torn down. The demolition is supported by the Viennese Jewish council and the ruling political party. The home was a National Socialist shrine during the Third Reich and has been a beacon for right wing extremists in the decades since
