Thought I'd post some pics of a piece I picked up recently. Police wakizashi, 12 inch blade, about 17 1/2 inches overall. Police emblem on pommel, textured finish to the brass. Normal wear I'd expect to see from age. Love to hear some opinions on it.

hi dak-41 this is my opinion on your short meiji era police sword wrong name wakizashi all together different then a wakizashi this sword is pictured on page 64 in the book titled military swords of japan 1868-1945 by richard fuller and ron gregory . over the years i have had a few short and long bladed police swords one police sword i remember haveing yielded a rare and valuble 1600s era signed blade. in your pictures i can not see much of the blade or scabard the scabard should be chromed metal its possible there might be an old blade in the mountings i have to see it before i give my opinion also the sword guard usually has a ring where you can hang a leather type police knot on the cross guard that appears to be ground off if you would like please bring it to the show would love to see it i will have several old japanese swords for sale at the show just bring your wallet. will be nice to see you again hope this has helped you safe trip god bless andy militarynut
