i like the cap, i beleive the insignia is repro, and maybe originally an nco cap, is the inside cotton or silk? may be an upgraded one?

not good in any detail.
Sidenote there are so good faked EM and Off. caps out that it is now hard to judge from photos, but this example above is not one of those.

I have one of these repros that I bought back during the 1970s, for $35. It has the same crossgraining construction on the upper part of the cap where the eagle is. The chin cord looks new. Do yourself a favor and "Blacklight" the white piping in the dark. If it shines fluorescent, then it is a fake. Cotton made these days will do that. The piping on my cap glows, in the dark. The underside of the visor is brand new. You would think the the sweatband would match the condition of the inside of the cap. It has the correct diamond cut outs for air circulation, but again it matches the visor color. Some of the SS officer hats that I have encountered used a thin cork like substance for sweatbands that after about 60 years, it would fall apart. It is impossible to actually reproduce, this style sweatband, made during the early to mid 30s to last this long! I agree with Robert H. Best Larry
