I think it was 1943 they came out with the swivels, as the fixed bails would break easily.
The seamed moved to the rear in late 1944.

Hi Robert...many thanks when did they start reaching US soldiers in the field? Were they used for Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal...etc???? thanks and cheers, Ryan
