Hi all, I've just found this interesting fighting knife, I presumed American, ww2... But after closer inspection I'm not so sure....it's just a beautiful piece, well worn thick wood grips, brass hand or field (trench?) made pommel and crossguard- pommel seems to have an irregular and asymmetrical, but intentional, look to it..Heavy screws in the brass crossguard...blade has cosmoline staining, but still a nice tight Bowie blade, no field or rough sharpening..the guy managed to etch his name in the ricasso... ("Schaab?") the scabbard has some great trench art designs- Indians, etc. and seems to have a us military canvas leg strap buckle as its snap. I just love this piece, it really looks well done and intentional all the way around...but after looking at the lettering style in the name, I'm wondering if it's European? Hope the pics come out well, it was tough to get all the details in, probably didn't do it justice,,,

A few shots of the entire knife, front & back, would help you get a better answer.

Thanks Dave. I am having trouble resizing them so I had to crop them down to fit the size requirements...all pics of the whole knife get rejected for being too large.

My gut feeling would say Dutch. But I don't have any reference to back that up. Just reminds me of something that I have seen sometimes...

Thanks herr wolf! I think I saw that Dutch was a possibility in the names origins or possibly south German
