Can anyone enlighten me how to maintain the dagger? Do you oil it?

A Kober SA in great condition!
You could not make a better start.

Those daggers don't need any maintenance. Just make sure the blade is clean: wash it once like a kitchen knife (with any common dish washing product) to remove all dirt, old oil and other remains of products that might have ben used previously. Dry it well.
If it is a tight fit in the scabbard, you might just want to add one drop of neutral oil (no cleaning oil) on each side of the blade to prevent additional scratches. Store it always in the scabbard: that is how your beautiful blade was preserved for some 80 years.

Best regards,

Herman

Nice dagger, those Suhl SA's are the best.

Great start, good luck on your hunt for a decent early SS dagger.

Refreshing post to say the least, it reminds me of the good old days, " getting my first SA ", I do remember my first SA, spending million of hours discovering a new world.
Good luck "

Well Crafted and desirable producer. Every SA collection needs Suhl Producer to show the differences in the depth of the crossguard that meets the grip.
Very Nice ! Regards Larry

Dear all

Sorry for asking silly questions.

For the SS dagger, besides the engraving and colour of the handle and the SS logo , are the size and Pattern of the dagger similar to the SA dagger?

Thanks

Yes, size-wise the SS dagger is exactly the same as the SA dagger. The scabbard of the SS dagger is black instead of brown (SA). The NSKK also had black scabbards.

If you look for an early M33 SS dagger, I would recommend to find one with anodized scabbard, not painted.

Best regards,

Herman

So, do you all feel that its better to keep the dagger in the scabbard rather than out to protect the blade?

IMO Renwax the blade and keep it in the scabbard that was meant to protect it.
