Hello. Please could someone tell me something about this bayonet? One side is engraved Der Sieg Wird Unser Sein 1943. The other side is engraved 3 Panzer Regt Grossdeutschland. Has swastika etching and initial GP on one end and serial number on hilt. Handle appears from fairly poor photos to be made of wood (?) and has diagonal lines carved. I'm sorry but photos not that great and has always taken me ages to figure out how to post photos on here. Can anyone tell me what sort of bayonet this might be and a very rough estimation of potential value. It looks to be in reasonable condition. Has black scabbard with leather frog and

Its a fantasy etch, please could You add what is on crossguard stamped, the piece was reworked as S238G is there which is Durkopp in 1935, the grip should be wood, the finish was in 70ies removed and applied fake etch to increase value. Unfortunally the really value was damaged, the piece when N.marked could be in reality a KM property marked. Frog is ok, the knot looks like Police one or sword Porteeppee, scabbard is not matching and painted black. b.r.Andy

Sturmbrigade and Andy. Thanks so much for the advice. From the photos I thought it looks like a good piece and it's coming up for auction at a regular antiques auction in the Isle of Man (which is in middle of nowhere) so I thought I might get it at bargain price. You've saved me quite a bit of money. Thanks. Such a shame this hobby is plagued by fakes.

Manxman Look on page 33 of my book German Etched Dress Bayonets 1933-1945 I picture one of these examples and give many more. No one should be fooled by these etches anymore.
