Got this cool bit of history here, along with a few other U.S. Items... Looks like it says e.m. 37 mm , m55 ai -r.l.b. Seems to be all part of a ww2 group, with engraving on the shell that says "to arte, with love February 14, 1944 concord air base, California" any idea what I've got here, guys? Thanks very much
Mike

I suspect it is an anti-tank round shot from a mark III anti tank gun.

Lost its effectiveness when the German tanks got better. stopped production in 1943. Same as your round.

Hey thanks Jim. It's a heck of a desk ornament. Looking at the pic now, I see the 1943, and can even make out a bit of the stamp detail of the vet's (I think) gas mask bag?

Nice to have a complete round with shell casing, projectile and fuze. These were widely used for training after they became useless on the battlefields

Time to continue my Memorial Day project...here's the vets helmet and liner, all belts, clasps, etc intact...just old... Rear seam fixed bale schlueter m1 with a light heat stamp, but I could see the "s" for sure, complete and intact Westinghouse liner as well...

Nice find. Remember to write down the vets name and info and keep it with the helmet!
