I wanted to share this neat little group that came into a gold and silver shop a couple yrs ago in Cleveland!

I happened to be around when daughter brought in this and came back a few times!

Her father was Paul West who has passed and sold a few items!

Now she had the worn Purple Heart and brought a couple pics!

She had all kinds of paper work not period but of the history and maps showing where her dad was and copies of unit history which listed her dad!

Celebration of up coming D-Day celebration etc etc!

I took many pics of them from my friend who got them!

Well time has passed by and I forgot about group till my buddy surprised me and brought it out yesterday!

He is a pack rat and his stuff is packed higher! He doesn't know where all the paper stuff is! God knows!

I posted pics on forums a couple yrs ago and might still be here!

Or maybe I saved on disk as I take lots of pics! I gotta look!

Lucky for me on back of pic covered up was the name! Paul West!!

Thank you Jesus!!!!!! Yup thats him!

No name on back of Purple Heart as he made it thru it all!

I know many will have hoped he was KIA! Oh well!

This dusty uncleaned Purple Heart is a real piece of been there history!

Maybe someone knows how to pull old threads or dig out fresh info again!

Nice history Paul.
I think collecting US groups is a worthwhile and inexpensive addition to collections.
thanks for showing.

I agree. There has been a real upsurge in collecting named, or identified, US medal groups of late. The history of this Purple Heart is right there to be seen in the group of items that identifies it. Very nice.
