Here's a tarnished knot that looks like a Feuerwehr knot. Why wouldn't it be, after all it came to me on a Feuerwehr bayonet. Sorry for the poor quality, I had to downsize it considerably.

Nothing really unusual about it, it's colors tarnished by age. The frog it came attached to was the standard black patent leather variety.

I have perhaps 50 of these knots in my collection & many are minty, retaining their original coloring. Many too though have had their silver bullion tarnish in a variety of shades.
All the aluminum threads appear gilted, even under the slide. Beneath the cords in question is the same color, just a little lighter. Often times, Feuerwehr knots that have threads that have tarnished gold will retain their original silver underneath the slide.
But something else made me look at this knot a little differently though,...

It was the cat's anus which also had gold threading inside. Many of my Feuerwehr knots will have a carmine cloth dot inside, some will have a colored wire.
This one's wire mesh is the same color as the threads in the strap. This is something I've never seen before, no trace whatsoever of red or carmine coloring in the dot. My mind's unconvinced that it's anything but a Feuerwehr knot but maybe I'm wrong, what do you think?
