Hello everybody!

I am asking the forum experts to help me determine whether this is a genuine Herder or just a fake, as I am thinking of buying it

Since I am a newbie in the field, I really need some seasoned member to help me buy the dagger or save my money for a real one

Thanks!

The blade markings are too precise, laser etched, not acid etched like originals. The stampings on the leather are incorrect, too fat

The scabbard may be later or be a repaint, but hard to say. The rest looks good from the pictures, including the trademark.

Luca, please add some detail to your opinions.

Every few years we have a discussion of F. Herder SS daggers. Looks like that time again laugh

Kreta,

When you say it is not a "Herder Etch", what are you using for a comparison?

Here is a pic of a real Herder A.S. motto and one of a european fake. This one was posted by a guy from europe in 2014.
Note the "open" M of Meine.
I've also seen these fakes,a few times in Germany!

Gerd

I have seen those fakes as well. The photo posted was not high resolution, but ...

Here is what it looks like blown up a bit.

"Open" ?? ... I don't think so

What does everyone else think? Open?

My concerns are also for the crossguards that not seems deep(seems suhl made) and also the runes on rune button seems too fat. What do you think about the shining grip? May be the light but seems painted last week :-) just my poor impressions

Thank you all for your opinion, I would be grateful if you could get into the details and explain what and why doesn't look correct, this would really be helpful for a newbie like me
