Gents,

As collectors of German militaria many of us can appreciate the fine quality of hand embroidered bullion-work, whether on standards, flags or period Imperial and Third Reich insignia.

This example comes from an unknown, TR hunting club, and commemorates its second championship match, dated June 7th, 1936. Without a specific designation and given it's late-spring, early summer date, one would assume it's for a master's shooting contest, since hunting game was normally done in the fall/winter seasons. However, that's only speculation on my part ...

What we don't have to guess at is the merit and value of this skilled handwork.

I'm looking forward to using this piece to accent a hunting dagger display in the near future.

Good collecting to all !

Bill

You guys have to quit this. I am running out of wall space. No collections is complete without one or more of these beautiful cloth works. I am especially drawn to the Imperial period. Thanks for sharing and hope to see many more. I will be at the SOS this month and feel free to just drop any of these off at my table. James
