Well, I thought after 10 years and ribbing from Dave H about never posting pictures of my collection that I would finally do so. It was only due to computer illiteracy that I didn't post, nothing else guys. Enjoy! cheers, Ryan

well guys I have sold this group with a few more to a dealer. I am officially out of collecting Third Reich for the 11th and final time since 1982. First was German field gear and Heer combat tunics, then daggers, then German headgear, then political tunics, then political visors, then Luftwaffe NCO visors, then daggers again, then Luftwaffe flight items, then Luftwaffe officer visors, then SS items and Jule candle holders, then Heer piped officer visors . This hobby keeps pulling you back in....but now I am collecting vintage cap guns cheers to all!!!!!!!!!!!! Ryan

Ryan
Finally got more that 5 guys to comment on something nice and you are done with the hobby!
Its a shame! And thanks for yrs of service to forum and adding to the hobby!
You had a good eye for quality and was friendly to members!
For the members who were not quite as friendly to Ryan its your loss and forums loss of another member in the hobby!

Hey Paul thanks for everything. I will continue to lurk and post here...who knows. I have nothing but good things to say about you all and about this forum. It is a shame to see that it is a pale copy of what it once was. When I think of all the great and knowledgeable collectors that were here in the beginning that left for a myriad of reasons it is very disheartening. Running a forum such as this is often a thankless endeavor and much credit goes to Vern and Dave and in fact we all owe Craig Gottlieb a large debt of gratitude for his vision here. It is a shame that Craig's passion for the hobby, so evident early on appears to have subsided. I seem myself to have been tarnished due to calling out the odd dealer/moderator and forum member for selling "expert consensus" fake garbage. I won't apologize for this. Also I never re- negged on any deal or transaction on this forum, contrary to what anyone says. Its a great hobby guys. I will always have fond memories of the hotel room helmet "show and tells" at the SOS into the early hours of the morning. Those were the days...better than Xmas. cheers to all, Ryan

Ryan, you have always been a gentleman and I am glad you will continue to be around. I think selling up and then starting again with a blank canvas might be an exciting prospect.
My best regards
Vaughan.

Hi Vaughan. Thank you very much for your comments. I began collecting 3rd Reich in earnest in 1979 and concentrated on 3rd Reich stamps and first day issue cards. They were DIRT cheap .10 cents on average. Those same stamps are today $20 each or more!!!. My then $100 collection would be worth about $3000 in today's values/prices. $100 bought hundreds of stamps!!!! back in 1979!! I began collecting German tunics, hats and field gear in 1982 when I turned 17. I then branched to daggers in 1993 and then all hell broke loose. German visors, political tunics and head gear, complete named mint German uniform groups, 25 different Luftwaffe officer visors, Heer officer visors by piping,SS items, Jule candles, then vintage Lionel trains, vintage hot wheels, vintage G I Joes, Japanese swords, Inuit soapstone sculpture and art, now vintage cap guns and now all is gone and I am back to focus on Third Reich signatures....I have friends that still have their first purchase and that do not sell anything. They have some very nice and valuable collections. I like diversity and it keeps me interested and busy. Starting a new collecting focus or "blank page" is exciting. Cheers and many thanks, Ryan
