Will
I would advise you; DO NOT GO TO THE SOS SHOW. You would go crazy. I went crazy the year that a dealer brought in maybe 90-100 dress bayonets he had bought a few years before and hadn't changed the price tags. I didn't get to his table until the second day of the show. I don't want to know what I missed. I spent every dime I had at that table.

Holding out the rare ones, smart move.
I'll have a double etched WKC with stag grips, a double etched long bladed Eickhorn 3219 etch and the other side with Aufkl. Abtlg. 4/2 Komp. Sondershaufen, a single etched short bladed eickhorn 3219, and a single etched Klaas long blade see pg.228 of Waynes book.
No Firemans at this time.
Denny, bring the flower pot to tease me.

Denny & Terry, No flowerpot? Now I know there's no reason to go to the SOS I actually like the time before the SOS, usually attendees are squirreling away their coins to save & there's bargains to be had on Eban.

Hi Will, thanks for posting. I know I have been pestering you here to post it but it was well worth the wait. I like all of them a lot. It would be great to see short fire pieces as well added in the future. I also like the combat pieces and have yet to add one example into my collection myself. Once more, great and will look forward to seeing more posts from you as your collection grows. JAN

Will,
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. What are the makers on the fire pieces? Looks like an Eick & WKC in the center?

Jan, glad you like them , i just really love looking at other peoples collections so i'm very happy these are bringing enjoyment to others Billy, damn right, eick and wkc! the one on the left is unmarked and has a "natural" finish to the blade with lots of crossgraining , on the right is i think not maker marked but distributor marked J.H.W.-E. , seem to remember reading one of your posts regarding the rarity of this mark , so i had to have it , scabbard has seen better days to say the least and there is loads of plating loss , but when you gotta have it you gotta have it !!!!!

Hi Rob , it was originally an eick with knot that came from steve at pastglories here in the uk,i knew the frog and knot were not original to the eickhorn they came on so i put my better conditioned wkc with them!, knot strap was a bit frayed but did some minor restoration merely to make sure it did'nt snap the knot itself is in lovely condition ! really like these fire knots , did you think you recognised it ?

mpj , yup only seven now , 8th is en route as we speak , really looking forward to that one , nice tropical frog with it yummy! surprisingly for me who will really buy any condition price dependant , i am only now looking for ex ex+ quality matching combats now and i never thought i'd do that !!! but with dress bayos if i dont have the maker mark its going in my collection regardless , usually pretty lucky with some of the guys i deal with though , have you added anything recently regards will.

Hi, Will... I did add to my collection significantly in the last month -- but not by purchasing a bayonet. Instead I bought a collection of books on German edged weapons. I picked up the books by Wheeler, Weinand, Johnson (all in his series), Techet, Angolia and the full series by Wittmann. Next on the agenda is putting together a proper cabinet to hold my collection and also on which I can store my books. Then I will add more combat bayos. After buying two miss-matched combat bayos and one matching bayo, I will only be in the market for matching pieces. I figure if I buy only a few pieces a year, I'll have a really nice collection. But next, the storage cabinet! And I don't mind miss-matched pieces, but it's obvious to me that if I can have a matching piece for only 20-30 percent more money, it's worth it. Cheers!

Will,
Does the WKC fire bayonet have "Solingen" below the knight's head? The bayonet has a very wide crossguard, very similar to Eickhorn's products, very nice.
The J.H.W.-E. is very nice as well. I've only seen a couple of them over the years. I'm thinking they must have been a distributor. We really never see marks like this & to date it's unidentified. Little mysteries like this make collecting pieces like this still enjoyable. Thanks for showing them.
