Nice. I appreciate seeing the KC, EKI, EKII combo.

Don, I've never seen the three sizes of the SA lapel pins all together like that.
I don't see many of the fully cut out DRL lapel awards either.

Thanks Joe, I know zilch about these things, I'm just grateful that they seem to be original. A few pieces in the rest of the group are not.....

Cheers
Don

Has anyone read or heard of this? ----------------------------

I read some time during the Third Reich the wear of 16mm. awards was forbidden. (?) Anyone have more info. on this? Was it all 16mm awards? Medals and badges?
I understand the wear of 9mm. awards continued. (?)

--------------------------------------------------------------

I'm wondering why the forbidding party would care about the size of civilian awards being worn. (?)

It's grown. smile Congratulations. It takes a lot of dedication to hunt down 21 IAB 16mm. stick pins.
Some of these minis have some outstanding detail.
I'm keeping my eyes open for a hollow back 16mm with some wear to it.

Do you have many 9mm's?

Thanks for sharing, --dj--Joe

Thank you. smile That 5th 9mm. to the right, looks really sharp. Is it the same as the 3rd example?

A nice example. I seldom see the 1939 mini ribbon attachment.

Cheers Joe...

Yes, the 3rd and the 5th examples are made of tombak. The 5th one is real nice; the wear to the frosted finish gives it a nice look. The 3rd has all the finish intact.

I know you are searching for a hollow example...here are my 16mm hollow examples.

Near as I can tell from the few I have seen online, the hollow backs are from the same die. If not the same maker. Only the knurl on the pins appear different. Do you know of a different hollow back design?

Hi Joe

These three are identical and all have are the same obverse design IMO. The pins do differ as you note. The one on the upper left has different, deeper knurling when compared to the other two. Another difference is the attachment method. The upper left one has a "U" shaped curve and slightly flattened at the end and soldered to the reverse. The others have a type of upside down "L" shape and directly soldered using the end of the pin.

Hi Joe,

Thought I would add this combination to the thread. I find these interesting because from what I understand they were officially approved.

Don, thank you. Nice combination. Do you think this example would be jeweler done as opposed to factory assembled? Was thinking that because of the pin style.

Hi Joe,

I would say these combinations were "one offs" and assembled by someone other than the original maker.
A jeweler would be a good guess.

Thats an extremely nice set up you have there. Great detail, well made.. The pins were widely available.. Yes jewelers would have done something like that.

- what great detail on the EKII,,,and appears to be enamel! With the high quality button all makermarked up its easy to see they were proud of this piece,, and probably all their stuff!!

I saw a table at the MAX that just had mini's.. He had one riker case full top to bottom for something like $500.. A wide variety of awards and sizes. What was the range of sizes? from smallest to largest? Seemed like there was 4 [?] sizes in-between small to large...
The case was packed with them. Probably a very good deal,,and a good instant collection for a beginner to research, catalog etc.

Gaspare, the miniatures are normally found in 9mm. small size to 16mm. larger size.

Not sure how well that was adhered to though.

There is also a prinzen size. Seen for medals and badges. They are a larger size than the miniatures.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will comment.
