I have several named German tunics and i would like to research their units and where they fought. Are there any good sites recommended for this?? Thanks, Mike

Have you tried the Bundesarchiv in Germany? Or the wAST in Berlin. All these organizations have their own websites so you can shoot them an e-mail.

The bundesachriv has a ton of rules that have to apply to get information, and then the fees for getting the information. Not worth it IMO

The same is true of trying to extract info from wAST.Takes forever :=(

Yeah, these organisations changed their policies a while ago I think. In the late 90's I used to write them almost every week for info on soldiers, units,etc. I always received a reply with the requested info 5-6 weeks later. Indeed now you have to pay fees and the process seems to be more complicated. Another place where you can find info about units and where they fought is the Lexikon der Wehrmacht: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/inhaltsverzeichnis1.htmThe site is in German however I find it to be very informative and useful in my researches. cheers, PF
