Style of the so called pioneer KS98 with simulated stag grips no maker to blade is the long model. Had some problems loading but got details of grip. timothy

A scarce variation of the plated "Pioneer" with wooden grips. These Ersatz stag looking grips are generally found on unplated late KS98. Is it broken at the pommel?

I think this is the first wood/stag I've seen on a pioneer type. Nice variation to have, and the slot dose look like someone tried to force it on a rifle at one time? But still it would be hard to fine another one any time soon.

Yes it does to appear to have been forced on a rifle other than that all else is good on it. timothy

What do you think of the rivets?

Billy, I think the rivets are OK. They appear to be plated steel, which is right for these wooden grips. A bit crudely peened on the back but I think they are period correct for a late no maker like this.
