This mark was used between 1928-1934.

Generally I tend to agree with Gary as being early rather than later, the Luftwaffe example from John shows that there can be exceptions. Fred

My theory is that some of the first orders for Luft2s were made with blades that were in stock.. the blades were the same ones as used in Heer daggers and so some very early maker marked blades from stock would have been used to make some early Luft2s.

Here is an early (1934) Deutsche Jagerschaft hirschfanger with the same mark. I have also seen a number of Forestry hirschfangers, a couple of Navy daggers as well with the same mark.

What is neat about this piece is that it was made in a sword length rather than as a shorter cutlass length.

Your right, this is the first one I have seen in this long length from this time period, not that common from the Imperial period either.
