Finishing up my chapter on 'Reproductions, Fantasy and Postwar rings'.
Thought you'd all like a quick view of 2 very old rings!
First,,,everybody's favorite [?] ring! , The SS Viking Div. ring.

This ring has a long history that I go in to much further detail in the book.. - around since the 1960s.. Mine I got around 1977. Actually bought as a wearer back then,,you know, young riding around on motorcycles, still learning the ways of life    anyway,, this one in all silver. Probably Sterling. First generation rings had much much better detail. Current examples sometimes just look like a blobs of silver.. Beware, there have actually been VERY large, experienced military dealers that have written 'Certificates of Authenticity' for these rings!,, The pattern is pure 4th reich,,a fantasy thru and thru! [ oh yeah,,anyone have a real nice one,,or a gold example, or with glass eyes I'm sure we'd all love to see it!]

O.K. , heres 2 of 2!
The infamous 'SS Chain Dagger Links ring'.
These to have a long history.. This one I got in the 1980s. I bought it as a fake to study/play around with,,and investment! This ring is massive!, heavy, thick, and .925 Sterling!

As mentioned,,a big hunky, massive ring.. They always have this weird phosphate type dark color to them. They are usually well marked/stamped 925. When I first got mine I couldn't believe the weight and had it tested for content,,sure enough mine is a true Sterling. Many collectors over the years have been burned with this ring and our first pattern Viking ring. And, I have also seen COAs for this ring with large price tags attached!  Believe,,it is another 4th reich product / fantasy.... But certainly cool looking! ,,wouldn't want to get socked in the jaw with someone wearing this ring!  So stay away form them unless the price is right and your investing in Silver
