Here is a statue I bought just a week ago, it´s casted in some kind of metall and has a bronze toned finish to it. The actual horse is 25,5 cm high and including the wooden base it is 38,5 cm high and the weight is 7,5 kg.
Any opinions on this one whould be much appriciated !

Hi mate !
The other ones I have seen on internet dont have any SA daggers on them either but it sure whould have made it a more attractive piece !!
Where do they come from I wonder, riding competitions or what ??
Stay safe, Hakan

Interesting example. It looks like he was holding reins at one time and they are gone. Either that or some gloves as something is in his hand and the horses head is high like it would be if the rider had reins connected to the horses bit. Just a supposition on my part.

You are right Mark !
The horse came this way but since it was not original I took those of and will be replacing them with something else more suitable to the piece. The others I have seen had these in metall but mine is lost to time.
What was the purpose of these horses ? anyone !!

Is that some kind of club in his right hand? If it is I would suggest he's engaged in crowd control just as the police do today.

I think that Jim is correct on this. In the early days of the SA, they were a rowdy and mean bunch who were pretty scary and fought a lot in the streets with non believers of Nazism.

Nice example and an easy fix to the reins by the right restorer.

Correct observation Jim, he has a baton in his right hand. I have wondered why myself, it´s very likely that it is as you suggested.
Thank you guys !

Are you sure that is not a stylized riding crop in his hand?

I can see an artist going to great lengths to sculpt a member of an SA/SS ritter standarte in all his (and his horse's...) glory.

It might be a stretch to attribute the piece as representing horse mounted crowd control..!

Thank you for your reply Doug !
Good thinking mate, you might be absolutely right ! Of some reason I never thought this could be an SS ritter aswell, that makes it even more cool IMO.
Still wonder where these came from, riding competition prices or just bought somewhere of those who whould have an interest in these.
Cheers, Hakan
