Wanted to put in Japanese section this helmet that I had got a few weeks ago!
Family of vet brought it out of attic and I got it!
I had the writing translated!
Here is Japanese helmet I just got out vet house!
Just had 1st reading of writing!
Hi Paul-san,
That's a very nice Type 90.
It is dated Shouwa 15 (1940). 昭和 15
Size Small. 小 (Shou).
The blue one looks like へ 628 (He Roku Futa Hachi).
The "He" might be either infantry or unit number.
The crossed out letters on the liner are not readable, probably the previous owner's name.
The only thing missing is the liner string that goes through the top holes.
Regards, Taka
I believe this was a KIA helmet bringback!
Best way to research this helmet is the 628 writing on helmet, and maybe the army unit can be traced to where they were!
Anyone else have anything to add on research or items?
I sold this helmet to collector thats going to try and get more info~
