At the Cleveland Grays show this weekend I took some pics
of a super look navy that just sparkled!

It was not full size or a mini! Had a name and I forgot!

Hard to take pics with lighting but it sure looked much better in hand!

You guys that collect navies know what I mean about that sparkle type gilding!

PVON,
Classic 3/4 size dagger. These were usually given as gifts as a desk set / letter opener. I have heard these referred to as "dancer daggers'' that were used for formal occasions. I personally have seen no photographic evidence to support this. They were made to every bit the same high quality as the standard full size models. These are much larger than miniatures. Please see my current post in the Miniature Forum for a Weimar era examples with the reed and cat tail pommel. Rick Schreiber shows a beauty as well.

I can't tell if the example you show here has an etched blade. It likely does. The etch on these blades are incredibly good, better than on the full scale models IMO. WKC was the most prolific producer of these orange gripped beauties. Examples are seen with the Imperial Navy crown, Weimar era reed and cat tail and Third Reich eagle pommels. Examples are seen with and without grip wire. These are quite rare and command a handsome sum when in great condition.
Thanks for sharing with us. I would love to have this one in my collection.
Kindest regards, Rick

Hi

It was a plain blade! And hard to describe the fire gilt finish if I am
even describing it right!

It had a real sparkle to it!

The lights were so bad it just does not capture it!

My pleasure to share the pics for those that enjoy!

Whats the time frame for this piece!

That is a sweetheart!

Yes that is fire gilt you see with polished highlights. The WKC trademark places the date to the very early 1930s. It is interesting to note that although you will find these with the imperial crown, Weimar and TR pommels they all have the Imperial Navy cross guard
Best, Rick
